Fighting Fitness Judo Festivals have been specially designed with our members in mind.
Our rule set, groupings, timings, and event layout have been created to give parents and children the best competition experience possible.
The festival is an opportunity for our members to show and test their skills against different club members in a fun environment.
We aim to put all children into groups of four, allowing each child an opportunity for three matches.
1st Place receives a Gold Medal,
2nd Place receives a Silver Medal,
3rd & 4th Place receives a Bronze Medal
Entries determine group sizes; some children may have more or less matches.
5 Reasons why your child should take part in this Festival:
Festivals help children test the techniques they’ve learned in class against different children.
Competing in the festival gives children a goal to work towards, which improves their focus in class.
Children who regularly take part in festivals progress faster.
A competitive environment allows children to process negative emotions: how to cope with being nervous, doubting their ability and worrying about winning and losing are essential life skills they need to develop.
Imagine the sense of pride and achievement your child will have when they are stood on the medal rostrum receiving their medal.
Learning to win and lose are skills integral to a child’s development.
Learning to win and lose are skills integral to a child’s development.
As parents, we naturally want to protect our children. No parent wants to put their child into a situation where they might become upset.
However, learning how to win and lose is integral to a child’s development.
When children lose, they learn to understand that it’s not the end of the world.
They can dust themselves off and try again; more importantly, their loss can motivate them to return to the dojo and try even harder in training.
At our festivals, we create an environment where it is ok for children to try their best and still lose.
Learning how to cope with a negative experience like loss helps children develop empathy, and it is vital to learn this early in life.
A child who has never learned the skills of how to deal with a losing struggle to deal with not meeting their expectations when they are older (when it actually matters).
This process also helps children develop a sense of responsibility for their actions.
Did they try their best? Did they listen to their coach in training?
It is impossible for children to have everything they want, but if they put in the effort and pay attention in class, they will have more positive experiences than negative ones.
Equally, when children win, they build their self-confidence. A child with confidence develops a ‘can-do’ attitude, which will help them succeed into adulthood.
Alongside this, judo teaches respect and humility, which teaches children how to be gracious winners.
Competition is much more than winning and losing …
Participating in competitions allows children to socialise, learn how to overcome nerves and build resilience, which is essential to success later in life.

We split the day into two parts and two groups of children (AM and PM), and our aim is for each group to be there for at most four hours.
Within the four hours, we welcome all children into the hall, lead a group warm-up, put them into groups, and compete. All medals are awarded for this section, pictures are taken, and we celebrate everyone's effort.
Please be aware that if you enter two or more children, we cannot guarantee they will be in the same part of the day.
